Introducing the RL-45

November 4th, 2009

In an attempt to appeal to a wider range of stringed instrument players, we have embarked upon yet another product here at RedLine Resophonics.  Introducing the RL-45 Acoustic Guitar!

We based the initial design of this guitar on a tried and true jumbo acoustic guitar that has been around since the early 1940’s.  We have paid meticulous attention to design details on many vintage instruments, especially the ones that we have found to be real “cannons” in the sound department.  At this point, we can’t tell you how great they sound, because the first ones are still making their way through the shop.  The first two are currently in the finish room color on, so it shouldn’t be long before we can put up a sound clip or two.  So, as they say, Stay Tuned!

Check us out on FaceBook as well!

L-Body,… E-Body,… Introducing The Peabody !!!

April 13th, 2009

The Pictures in this gallery are of our new Big Body resophonic guitar.  As true RedLine “ResoHeads”, we are big fans of the traditional, older “Regal” style reso. body, but we have had so many requests from friends and customers to build a “more contemporary” larger bodied resophonic guitar.  Well, here it is.  In the shop we have nicknamed this one the “Peabody”, for no real reason, really.  It makes about as much sense as “L” or “E”, come to think of it.

This is our first Big Body reso, but it sure has some power.  Hey!  Power = P = Pea = P-Body = PeaBody!  Anyway, we goofed around some while designing and building this one.  The body is not only bigger, but it is tapered, as well, being thicker at the tailpiece end than at the neck end.  This one is fitted with a Scheerhorn spun cone, topped with a Crafters of Tennessee spider, which is topped with an ebony capped vertical grain maple bridge insert.  There is also a removable baffle inside the body, just beneath the sound holes.  These sound holes have been fit with lathe turned ebony rings, which have in turn been fit with screenless chrome rings, for a very unique, and classy look.

Sound and tone?  I guess “powerful” is as good a word as any.  Plenty of volume comes from this one, and it can be driven hard, yet it can be played lightly for a sweet and delicate voice.  Even though that is so, banjos beware!  The Peabody is here!!!

Video Clips Section Added!

January 28th, 2009

So many of our customers have been sending us video clips of them playing their new Red Line resophonic guitars and mandolins, that we decided to add a “Video Clips“  section to our website.

Be sure to check out this section of our website, and see how our instruments sound to you.

Also, if you are a current Red Line owner, and would like to submit a video, mail it to us HERE! We’d be glad to consider adding it to our growing collection.

RedLine Reso Hits YouTube

December 24th, 2008

We recently loaned one of our Red Line Resophonic guitars to local (Nashville) picker Rob Haines.  This multi-talented gunslinger is the same guy that did a YouTube video of our Red Line Traveler mandolin last month.  Rob learned how to play squareneck guitar directly from Josh Graves himself, so enjoy that classic reso. sound as Rob tickles the strings on this video . . .

This particular guitar is made with figured maple and a spruce top.   This body is built in the classic resophonic guitar shape.  We are working on another size and shape, but more about that after the holidays.

For now, we’ll close with a hearty “Merry Christmas” from the Smith famiy and the gang at Red Line Resophonics!!!
