HEMI FEVER

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

We’ve noticed recently that a unique version of our “Peabody” (large body) resophonic guitar we call the “HEMI” has been picking up in popularity.  This guitar sports our very own hemispherically shaped bracing system inside of its body.  We know of no other guitar that has anything like this, nor of any that sound like these guitars sound!

Here are some pictures of an earlier HEMI build.  This one was built around our standard, or R-Body design.  Even though this guitar is a bit smaller, that Great Big RedLine Sound is still there, in spades!!!

Also hear what results in that sweet “HEMI” sound…

New Pages for the RedLine RL-45 and Parlor Acoustic Guitars!

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Well, our customers asked, and I feel that we have delivered!  Many of you, while impressed with our line of resophonic guitars and mandolins, have wondered why we don’t make an instrument YOU can play.  So, for all you guitar players out there, we are now making a line of acoustic guitars.  Our first two entries in this, our latest instrument adventure, are the Parlor Guitar and the RL-45.

The Redline Parlor Guitar offers excellent tone, volume, and playability in a very comfortable size.  Not a “baby guitar” by any means, the design of our Parlor Guitar was heavily influenced by some of the turn-of-the century parlor and OM sized guitars, many of which are still around and sounding great today.  We have modernized the shape a bit, added a truss rod, and use high quality wood components and hardware througout.  These initial pictures show our Parlor Guitar made of myrtle wood and Carpathian Spruce.  Our production models will be available with either mahogany or rosewood back and sides, coupled with Carpathian, Sitka, or Engelemann spruce tops.  Necks are mahogany, with a comfortable  fret scale length of 24 3/4″.  Standard nut width is 1 3/4″.  The overall body length is 18 1/2″, with a lower bout dimension of 13 1/2″.  Other amenities include ebony fretboard, mother of pearl fret dots, ebony pyramid bridge, and fully bound body.  Finish is nitrocellulose lacquer, with various sunburst options available.

The other guitar that we are pretty excited about is our RL-45 Acoustic Guitar.   This fine and attractive guitar leans heavily on a tried and true design that has been around since the early 1940’s.  The design of this guitar includes a jumbo body size, with an overall body dimension of 20″, and a lower bout dimension of 16″. and “sloped-shouldered” sides where they meet the neck.  The fretboard and bridge are made of East Indian Rosewood.  The fret scale is 24 3/4″.   This guitar is available with your choice of either mahogany or rosewood for the backs and sides.  The neck is mahogany as well, and includes a bone nut with a standard width of 1 11/16″ .  You also have your choice of either Carpathian, Sitka, or Englemann spruce on these guitars, as well.

Great tone, easy playability, plenty of volume, and a great looking guitar, all at a very reasonable price.  What more could you ask for?

If you are interested in either of these fine new acoustics, be sure to get in touch with us.  Both models will be available in January of 2010!

I Am A Pilgrim on a new RL-45

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Here we have a video clip of our friend Mike Tatar picking out a tune on a recently built RedLine RL-45 Acoustic Guitar.  We currently have quite a few of these guitars in process, so be sure to get in touch with us if you like what you hear!

Thanks, too, to our pal Rob Haines for creating this video for us.
